About Me
I see the therapy relationship as providing the safety and consistency necessary for clients to feel free to explore and share their true selves. To that end, I make it my priority to establish strong trusting relationships using a warm, transparent, and collaborative approach. My practice is relational and humanistic, rooted in culturally responsive attachment-based perspectives. I am trained in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) and currently supervise EFCT postdoctoral trainees. My individual practice, which integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques and applies a trauma-informed psychodynamic lens, also informs my work with couples.
Couples often find themselves in recurring cycles of conflict that leave them feeling disconnected, hopeless, and alone. I work with couples to understand how their respective protective strategies drive them further apart when what they’re longing for is closeness and connection. By helping them send clear emotional signals, couples are able to feel heard and understood and develop greater compassion and empathy for each other.
My Specialties
I specialize in addressing a wide range of relationship and emotion-related issues for couples and individuals including depression, anxiety, grief, and particularly trauma (childhood, sexual, race-based, combat, and other). I have experience working with adults of all ages, including LGBTQ+ populations, clients from varied racial, ethnic, and cultural identities, as well as current and former military.
